Capitalism as an economic system is about 200-250 years old max but these problems are much, much older, and capitalism supports, entrenches, or exacerbates many of these problems… doesn’t mean it invented them and doesn’t mean they will simply cease to be problems After Capitalism.
the fun thing about jason is he’s actually a very sensitive and thoughtful character which is NAWT me saying he’s a soft sweet little boy who’s never done anything wrong let’s give him flower crowns because he’s done plenty of things wrong because he is an asshole who sucks. but he is sensitive in the sense that he feels things so very deeply and he’s thoughtful in the sense that he thinks things through carefully. which can create a really interesting contrast with the outward persona he works to project but very few people seem to have pieced this together so we’re stuck with big ol meatheaded brute jason instead of the strange ball of emotions trapped deep within. sigh

i think the reason “fiction affects reality” trips so many people up is because they think it means “engaging with media that depicts uncomfortable subjects will taint your soul” when really all it means is that “fiction is meant to reflect certain ideas of the world intentionally or not, and it’s going affect your perception of it, if you don’t go in with a healthy bit of skepticism”
like playing a first person shooter isn’t going to turn you into a school shooter, but that doesn’t mean that Call of Duty isn’t like. explicitly military propaganda.
